Plan/Usage

The number of entries and journals is limited by your current plan. This page shows you how many things you have created over time and allows you to choose a different plan level.

WebCapture

You can capture weblinks and content from web pages using the tools provided or described on this page. Some simple install steps may need to be done to make them work.

Log Out

Flojourn Functions

There are a few items at the top of the NavList which provide some of Flojourn's functions.

Show Guider Help

When you are new to Flojourn clicking this will display a number of suggest actions to get started finding and using information in the app.

Find Journals

This provides a search for journals and will include your own and everyone else's public journals. You can enter words to search for in the journal names and about. There is also an option to choose the predefined topics which helps to find journals in a general subject.

Note that this function only finds Journals and does not search in or for individual entries within journals.

Basket/recent

This item shows a list of entries that you have added to the basket or which you have visited recently. It is used to collect entries so they can be added as attachments to other entries.

It can also be useful as a way to quickly hop to specific entries without having to reselect the journals and search for the entries.

Interaction

Generally Flojourn does not notify you about things or allow direct messaging. However the interactions are there to let you know when others have interacted with your journals. If people have added entries or replies or followed one of your journals you will see entries in the interactions which will then take you to the people or entries.

Interactions may also occur when requesting or granting access to journals.

Spaces

Spaces allow you to divided up the journals in the NavList into subsets that might fall within mutually exclusive groupings. For instance if you use Flojourn for work and one of your hobbies it may be convenient to make a space and keep the journals that apply each separate.

You can also choose a colour theme to go with each space to help emphasise when you are in one space and not another.

User Journals

All journals and libraries that you create or follow will appear in the sidebar.

Writable Journal

Writable journals are ones you created or have been given write access to so that you can add entries. The main icon may be followed by a globe if it is a public journal or a padlock if it is request or private.

Read Only Journal

Read Only journals are ones created by others that you have followed. You may be able to reply to entries on the journal or not depending on the settings chosen by the journal owner. The main icon may be followed by a globe if it is a public journal or a padlock if it is request or private.

Writable Library

Libraries collect journals so that it is possible to give someone a single library rather than many individual journals. A writable journal is one where you can add new journals. As with journals the glob or padlock icon shows if it is a public or private library.

Read Only Library

Read Only libraries are a way for you to receive a number of journals easily. However you cannot add new journals to a read only library. As with journals the glob or padlock icon shows if it is a public or private library.

Folder

You can create folders and add journals and libraries to them to organise your own NavList. They are not seen by anyone else.

Every journal entry is written by someone, clicking the User icon will show their username and about information.

The share icon will open the share system on your device which will function differently on different platforms (eg iPhone v desktop). This enables you to send the link to the entry to other apps or to other people.

QR Code

This opens the copy link dialog which also shows the QR code for the link. You can use this especially on your phone to show the QR code for the current entry so someone else can scan it with their phone and access the journal themselves . The QR code can also be downloaded so it can be added to documents for printing etc.

Basket

The basket holds entries which can then be attached to the current entry. The paperclip icon will add the entry to the attachments on the current record. Once attached the button icon will change to a check mark.

The hierarchy icon represents the outline mode where you create a tree like traversal patten by using attachments to create child nodes to the current entry. The options in the Outline mode allow you to specify titles and appearance of entries at this level.

Content Panel Icons

The content panel shows the entries in the journals. The header on this may contain different buttons depending on the contents and context.

List view

The List view is the normal view of a journal with truncated cards for each entry one above the other in a list. This icon appears in the view menu at the top of a journal display.

Map view

The Map view transforms the normal list of entries into a map with markers. Clicking on markers opens then in the map with limited info, and clicking again navigates to the single entry view. This icon appears in the view menu at the top of a journal display.

Calendar view

The Calendar view adds a mini-calendar to the top of the list and only items with dates matching the selected date on the calendar appear in the list below the calendar. The dates can be the created date and all entries have a created date. The date can also be the Event date so only entries with event dates will be indicated in the calendar and shown in the list. This icon appears in the view menu at the top of a journal display.

Outline view

The Outline view shows an outline instead of the NavList and only shows entries one at a time more like browsing a web site. The outline mode only appears in the view menu if the journal has been configured for outline mode. To configure outline mode the journal owner must have a Club Tier plan.

Starred

The starred view filters the list to show only entries marked as special via the star button. By making some entries in a journal special it can be easier to find them using this mode.

Icons for entry type filter for the chosen type, text in the search blank finds words in the entries. Clicking the "x" button clears the search. Closing the drawer deactivates the search.

Hide Info Panel

When the interface is displaying three panels side by side on larger screens, the right hand panel contains supplementary information which may not be necessary and can be hidden and reshown using this button.
