Interaction Activity Notifications

Flojourn alerts yo to activity on your journals and entries by other users.

Entries in the Interactions section are generally created to highlight when others are interacting with your journals, although they can also come from the administrator of a journal you follow or have requested to follow.

In addition to a short descriptive message, Interaction entries may have some or all of these:

  • Profile link button - this takes you to the profile of the person who triggered the activity, eg the person who replied.

  • Entry link button - this takes you to the journal entry involved in the activity, eg the entry that has had a reply added

  • Journal link button - this take you to the journal involved in the activity.

Normally you will be alerted to activity by a badge on the Interactions item in the NavList showing the number of new entries. However you can also request system level notifications of these if you want.

Types of Activity Messages

  • Follow Request - Someone has seen your request journal exists and want to become a follower to see the entries within it. This will have Accept and Reject buttons to make taking action easier. There is also a section in the Journal Admin to manage followers where these actions can be taken.

  • New Subscriber - If you have a public journal and someone follows it then you will be notified of this. You get the same notification for a private or request journal when someone uses an invite you have sent to them.

  • Replies Added - If someone has added a reply on an entry you made or replied to a reply you will be notified. The entry and reply could be on your own journal or someone else's journal.

  • Changed Access - A journal owner can change the access any follower has to read, reply or add entries on the journal. The owner can also remove you as a follower.

  • Admin Invite / Owner Invite - The person who creates a journal is both the owner and the admin for the journal. Admins, can add entries and can also change the access status for other users. Any journal Admin can invite other people to also be admins of the journal. The owner may also want to pass the ownership of the journal to someone else. In both cases the invited user must accept for the change to take place.

  • User Message - It is possible to send a short private message to a user using the button on their profile page. Flojourn is not intended for general messaging, and usually people will have some real world contact and can message on other platforms. However there will be instances where a private message is needed to send an journal invite or to pass other contact details through the system.

  • Flagged Content - Every journal entry has a flag button on it which can be clicked by any user other than the original author. This offers a menu of reasons why the entry may be problematic from "spam" to "abuse". The journal admins and the entry author receive a message to review the content and take action.
